| Job Description:
The Network Engineers role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Designs, writes, and maintains common procedures, SLI's and EXEC's for installed operating systems.
Organizes, allocates, and supervises use of disk space for libraries, files, and common work space.
Acts as a professional assistant or project team member in hardware evaluation, configuration, and software
evaluation projects.
Reviews, analyzes, develops, installs, and modifies computer operating systems.
Trains new employees on all aspects of an application or system product.
Designs, plans and supervises implementation of large scale system projects.
Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors degree from a four year college or university in a related field.
Experience:
5-7 years systems/programming experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of operating systems
Considerable knowledge of disaster recovery
Considerable knowledge in storage management
Considerable knowledge of programming languages required by the position
Considerable knowledge of how test conditions will affect the system and expected test results
Considerable knowledge of system design methods and techniques
Considerable knowledge of technical writing principles and practices
Skill in analysis and problem solving
Skilled productivity planning/workload management
Skill in software installation and maintenance
Ability to be open to change
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
