JOB DESCRIPTION

• Department administrator. Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives. Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow.
• Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. Responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the Department exerting a leadership role which supports the hospital's mission, vision, goals and objectives, while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers.
• The Vice President, Health Information Management will report directly to the Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for Abrazo Healthcare.
• The position will have a key matrix relationship with the finance and operations executives at the five Phoenix area hospitals.
• The Vice President, HIM will be responsible for the effective management of the HIM functions at Arrowhead Hospital, Maryvale Hospital, Paradise Valley Hospital, Phoenix Baptist Hospital and West Valley Hospital through planning, organizing, controlling, directing, decision-making, financial performance, compliance with regulatory agencies, employee and customer satisfaction, and productivity. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of the department services and standards of care into the hospital's primary function.
• Requires experience in administrative and staff management as well as project management. Needs knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and report writing skills.
• Requires certification as an RHIA.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, including analysis documentation, project deliverables documentation, system specification, report preparation and presentation.
• Ability to work independently and in an integrated group.
• Must be detail, results, solution and action oriented and constantly updating knowledge.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel and other external parties, frequently in situations which are sensitive and/or significant to the company.
